Palazzo Valier: an ancient town house

The building that encompasses the Town House dates back to the late sixteenth century.
It was built on an ancient pre-existing Byzantine building and over the centuries has undergone a number of
extensions. It was the sumptuous residence of the aristocratic Velier family and it is said that the famous painter Giorgione passed away in this building.
